Technical Specifications

The Voyager ll at Skyline Rotorua, New Zealand see www.skylineskyride.co.nz

Visual System

  • 3D/HD resolution – 6000 lumen projector provide exceptional visuals.
  • The projection system is based around the latest 3-chip Digital Light Projection (DLP) and 3D technology and is coupled with a specially designed screen, resulting in exceptional picture quality.
  • A 3D/HD digital media playback unit, stores the visual images digitally and produces a picture output at 1920 x 1080 line resolution at 30 frames per eye per second.

Audio System

  • Audio- Illusion Soundscape: unique feature of our simulator: A 5.1 soundscape is utilized to produce an immersive sound field within the capsule.
  • Audio which originates from 5 sound tracks is stored on the MPEG digital playback unit, and fed to the input of the high-end amplifier.
  • The 5 amplifier audio channels are then fed to their respective speakers and two sub-bass speakers, each strategically positioned within the capsule to give passengers an authentic surround-sound experience.
  • Sound tracks are produced with perpendicular height to the centre field of the 5.1 surround system.
  • Each of the 5 channels specifically created and controlled from source to output, are used to maximize the immersive effect.

Interior and Safety Features

  • Fire rated materials, smoke detectors and sprinkler system.
  • Five rows of padded seats which are arranged at different levels enabling all passengers a clear view of the front mounted screen.
  • Seating capacity for up to 64 adult passengers, with each passenger having seatbelt and hand grip support.
  • The Spaceship is fitted with buttons on each handle grip of the individual seats.  These buttons are a safety feature for passengers to communicate with the control booth outside should they be feeling uncomfortable and wish to exit the ship.  There is the potential through a Scada package for these buttons to provide passengers with inter-activity.
  • The Spaceship is fitted with safety belts.
  • Air conditioning throughout the capsule.
  • Emergency stop buttons and emergency door opening systems are fitted as standard equipment.  These buttons will trigger the levelling of the ship and will open the doors to allow evacuation even in the case of a total power failure.

Motion Base

  • An hydraulically driven three degrees of freedom (3 DOF) motion base provides the motion power for the capsule. Space Dome has put passenger comfort as a top priority and therefore although the ride is exciting the motion is not violent and hence the ride is suitable for all ages over 3 years.
  • Passengers within the capsule experience accelerations in all directions, according to the motion cues provided by the control software. The ship's motion is designed to be programmed in real time using a joystick controller.
  • The motion base is a fabricated steel structure complete with high powered hydraulic drive systems. The motion platform is weight balanced with high performance bearings which offer 2 metres of travel in four directions at maximum speed of 1.5 metres per second at the perimeter of the ship.
  • All component parts selected are low maintenance, reliable, and ideally suited for this application.
  • The motion base is suitable for bolting directly to a specially designed concrete pad and foundations.

Certification

  • The Voyager II comes with Internationally recognised New Zealand Amusement Device Certification.
  • The design was completed by Mr. Pat Moore B.E.C. Eng. M.I.C.E. MIPENZ Chartered Engineer, Auckland New Zealand.
  • FEA (Finite Elemental Analysis) completed by Matrix Limited Auckland New Zealand.

Structure

  • The unique steel frame design concept has been designed to deliver maximum strength and durability but with close regard to weight, thereby enabling upmost energy efficiency.
  • The capsule comprises an ergonomically designed GRP molding with a gel coat metallic silver finish.
  • Two extra wide gull wing doors, powered by pneumatics provide ease of access and comply with fire and safety regulations.

Manuals and Training

  • A complete set of operator and maintenance manuals in English are provided.

Operation Panel and Control System

  • Easy touch screen control pad.
  • Emergency stop buttons and emergency door opening systems are fitted as standard equipment.

Safety Interface Controller

  • Basic operator interface by displaying operational status and fault information.
  • Autonomous safety functions independent from the PC.
  • Monitoring of incoming signals from the capsule, providing signal conditioning.

Power Distribution Unit

  • Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)
  • This unit takes the mains incoming power and distributes to the appropriate sub systems. In the event of mains power failure this unit will temporarily control and protect all inline appliances.
