Space Dome Technologies Ltd (SDTL) is a privately owned New Zealand Company established in 2005. The Company specializes in simulation design and custom made motion films. SDTL has successfully developed a prototype 4D capsule simulator in the shape of a flying saucer.
This simulator, Voyager I, has been well-tested in the commercial environment of the New Zealand market. The Company is now launching its commercial model, the Voyager II, to the International market. The Voyager II is an interactive 4-dimentional 64-seater space craft simulator that spans 16 meters in diameter.
This simulator has been specifically designed to meet the high demands of the International market and offers the latest in audiovisual and show control technologies. This spacecraft simulator has a smooth and seamless fiberglass finish closely resembling the public's image of a real flying saucer. Its sleek and stylish design is extremely strong and lightweight giving the appearance of spacecraft capable of taking flight. We believe this design to be unique and know from our own operational experience that the idea of a UFO/spaceship sparks great interest.
The multi channel show control technology employed in this craft has been designed by SDTL's engineers and offers the latest super High Definition 3D visuals / 5 degrees of motion dynamics, 4D special effects / High Definition surround sound and LED DMX controlled lighting.
Visual System
Ø High-resolution - high brightness projectors provide exceptional visuals.
Ø Front projection techniques are utilized to create a truly bright, high resolution visual image.
Ø The projection system is based around the latest 3-chip Digital Light.
Ø Projection (DLP) technology coupled with specially designed lenses produce results of exceptional picture quality.
Ø SDTL has placed great emphasis on the enjoyment of the overall experience in which audiovisual presentation combined with passenger comfort are critical.
Ø A digital playback unit, stores the visual images digitally. Ride film data is encoded at 260mbps (uncompressed) and stored on an internal hard drive.
Ø Data output is then delivered at 2050 X 1080 line resolution at 30 frames per second.
Audio System
Ø Audio- Illusion Soundscape: unique feature of our simulator: A 7.1 soundscape is utilized to produce an immersive sound field within the capsule.
Ø Audio which originates from 7 sound tracks is stored on the MPEG digital playback unit, and fed to the input of the high-end amplifier.
Ø The 7 amplifier audio channels are then fed to their respective speakers and two sub bass speakers, each strategically positioned within the capsule to give the passengers an authentic surround sound experience.
Ø Sound tracks are produced with perpendicular height to the centre field of the 7.1 surround system.
Ø Each of the 7 channels specifically created and controlled from source to output, are used to maximize the immersive effect.
Interior
Ø Fire rated materials, smoke detectors and sprinkler system.
Ø Five rows of padded seats which are arranged at different levels enabling all passengers a clear view of the front mounted screen.
Ø Seating capacity for up to 64 adult passengers, with each passenger having seatbelt and hand grip support.
Ø The Spaceship is fitted with buttons on each handle grip of the individual seats giving the passengers interactive participation during the show.
Ø The Spaceship is fitted with electronic safety belts that automatically calculate the number of customers per ride and rides per day.
Ø Air conditioning throughout the capsule.
Ø Emergency stop buttons and emergency door opening systems are fitted as standard equipment.
Ø Remote monitoring system connected to a main server which is automatically logged into the operating computer and uploaded to a server every 24 hours.
Motion Base
Ø An electrically driven five degrees of freedom (5 DOF) motion base provides the motion power for the capsule.
Ø This allows the passengers within the capsule to experience accelerations in all directions, according to the motion cues provided by the control software. The ship's motion is designed to be readily programmed in real time using a joystick controller.
Ø The motion base is a fabricated steel structure complete with high powered servo drive systems. The motion platform is weight balanced with high performance bearings which offer 2 meters of travel in four directions at maximum speed of 1.5 metres per second, a world first in this style of motion platform technology.
Ø All component parts selected are low maintenance, reliable, and ideally suited for this application.
Ø The motion base is suitable for bolting directly to a concrete pad or a fabricated base and is fully compliant with amusement device certification.
Hologram and other Special Effects
Ø Each ship will feature hologram technology to add a further dimension of excitement to the audience. Another special effect to be included will be a mist spray.
Structure
Ø Spacecraft styled simulator capsule.
Ø The capsule comprises an ergonomically designed GRP molding with a gel coat metallic silver finish.
Ø Two extra wide gull wing doors, powered by pneumatics provide ease of access and comply with fire and safety regulations.
Manuals and Training
Ø A complete set of operator and maintenance manuals in English are provided.
Operation Panel and Control System
Ø Fire rated materials, smoke detectors and sprinkler system.
Ø Five rows of padded seats which are arranged at different levels enabling all passengers a clear view of the front mounted screen. Seating capacity for up to 64 adult passengers, with each passenger having seatbelt and hand grip support.
Ø Air conditioning throughout the capsule.
Ø Emergency stop buttons and emergency door opening systems are fitted as standard equipment.
Ø Remote monitoring system connected to a main server which is automatically logged into the operating computer and uploaded to a server every 24 hours.
Safety Interface Controller
Ø Basic operator interface by displaying operational status and fault information.
Ø Autonomous safety functions independent from the PC.
Ø Monitoring of incoming signals from the capsule, providing signal conditioning.
Power Distribution Unit
Ø Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)
This unit takes the mains incoming power and distributes to the appropriate sub systems. In the event of mains power failure this unit will temporarily control and protect all inline appliances.
